23rd June, 2026 - recell.store, an Altilium company and the UK's first online marketplace for used EV batteries, has today announced a new partnership with EV battery testing and analytics company ClearWatt, to accelerate the reuse and recycling of EV batteries across the UK.

Through the partnership, recell.store will offer access to a fast, cost-effective battery testing solution for vehicle salvage yards, vehicle dismantlers and other organisations handling end-of-life and damaged EVs, using ClearWatt's proprietary technology. By providing reliable battery health assessments at the point of recovery, the collaboration aims to increase confidence, transparency and value throughout the EV battery supply chain.

The initiative will begin with a first-of-its-kind pilot programme involving key industry partners. Participating organisations will be able to utilise ClearWatt's EV Flash Test technology to quickly assess battery condition and generate independent battery health data. This information will then be used to support transactions through recell.store's marketplace.

Better insight of the condition of EV batteries will unlock greater opportunities and value across the entire battery lifecycle, identifying which batteries are suitable for repair, reuse and repurposing into second-life applications, such as battery energy storage systems (BESS), or for recycling to recover critical materials at end-of-life and improve sustainability.

ClearWatt's EV Flash Test uses vehicle diagnostics and OBD technology to assess the condition of an EV battery. A ClearWatt diagnostic device is connected to the vehicle and paired with the ClearWatt app on a phone or tablet. The test then captures key diagnostic signals directly from the vehicle and processes them through ClearWatt's battery analytics and reporting platform.

The result is an independent, consumer-friendly battery health report designed to give buyers and sellers greater confidence in the condition and performance of an EV battery. The report goes beyond basic dashboard information or a single manufacturer state-of-health figure, helping identify relevant battery indicators and presenting the findings in a clear format that can support sales, purchasing and valuation decisions.
