Are the batteries tested for state of health or charge?
Batteries do not have to be tested for SOH (State of Health) or SOC (State of Charge) to be listed on recell.store. If a Buyer would like a battery tested prior to purchasing, it is the responsibility of the Buyer and Seller to agree and to arrange for the appropriate Battery testing required and the associated costs. Recell.store is working to provide a solution to assist with that process. We shall update when that service is available. Please note: Recell and ABI are not responsible for any valuations agreed between parties based on battery quality tests. For batteries that either self-declared EOL or are tested and fall into the EOL category, Recell will connect the Battery Provider with Altilium Clean Technology to arrange for the battery to recycled in accordance with UK environmental guidelines for the recycling, recovery and disposal of EV batteries.

Anyone can use the portal, provided they are a business. We do not transact with private individuals at this time
Can private owners sell on recell.store?
Right now, we only partner with sellers who have proof of their permit to operate or own equipment powered by EV batteries. In the future, when hopefully Battery Passports will be rolled out, we’ll be able to buy, sell or recycle any battery from any source. In the meantime, register your battery on our database so we can stay connected.
Does Altilium accept EV batteries
At the moment Altilium is operating at full capacity so it is not accepting any more end of life EV batteries. However, we are increasing capacity, by building a new refinery which is due to open in 2028. If you wish to discuss your recycling requirements please get in touch
What do I do if I have EV batteries that need recycling?
We would encourage you to engage with recell.store via the Buy & Sell EV Batteries – recell.store function and we can discuss your requirements and how recell.store can possibly support
I do not know much about EV battery recycling
We have added lots of content to our website designed to educate and inform customers about the sector. We hope the range and level of content is helpful. For more specific requests please contact us
How do I know what the price is for my battery?
There are lots of factors that influence the value of an EV battery, ranging from its model, the battery chemistry, to its state of health. We have developed the Altilium Battery Index to help inform customers of the value of a battery but as the market is still very new, prices will vary considerably which is why at recell.store we encourage buyers to ‘bid’ for a battery and why we don’t put prices against batteries.
